Detoxification
Do we care more for our cars than our bodies?
Today we are all experiencing a drastic change in lifestyle - stress, pollution, maintaining a competitive edge at work, cell phones and email make life faster paced it has ever been. Pressure is everywhere. Its like living inside a pressure cooker! This sort of lifestyle causes our bodies to become toxic and we start to experience signs of break down, like colds, flu, headaches, acne, allergies, obesity, joints pain, fatigue etc.
I always say, we send our cars to the mechanic for service every 3000 miles for oil change. Our cars will not run on an empty fuel tank. We need to take the same approach when caring for our bodies. We take better care of our cars than we do of ourselves. We are exposed to an increasing amount of toxins. The foods we eat are loaded with pesticides. The water and the air we breathe are polluted. We fail to take proper rest. So of course we must detox regularly.
I can always tell when I need to detoxify my body by the way I feel. I do four major detoxes a year, one with each season. But I do mini-dextoxes more frequently. I fast once a week. I also make sure to go to a wellness retreat two times a year, sometimes spending two weeks at the time.
To keep my body "tuned up," every two weeks I do a Nutri-Fast for three days. When there is any sign of discomfort in my body like strong odor or color change in my urine, needing more sleep, irritability, head or chest congestion, I go on a fast. Some people might experience abmormal bad breath, body odor, cold, sinus problems, allergies, constipation or headaches. Everyone has their own signal to tell them its time for a detox. You have to get to know your body.
Detoxing gives my digestive system a rest so all of my energy can go into repairing and rejuvenating my body. The result is I feel good. I have clear thinking. I am upbeat. I make better decisions. I have an overwhelming sense of well being. I get a good night sleep without tossing turning and having to press the snooze button wishing I had eight more hours of sleep.
Toxin build-up renders our bodies susceptible to dis-ease and illness. We run our bodies on empty without thinking twice. Are our cars more important than our bodies? Let us detoxify our bodies before it breaks down. Dis-ease is nothing but toxins wanting to come out. By expelling these toxins with a guided detoxification, we will gain both physical and mental alertness.
